FAQ

Most people start looking for their Bridal gown a year in advance of their wedding date. This gives the customer chance to look around and decide on the best style for them in a relaxed manner. Delivery of a new dress is 3-6 months, depending on the Designer. Any alterations to your dress start two months before the wedding date, so a minimum nine month lead time is required.

Some of our Designers hold stock or can fast-track orders for a fee, so please still come and visit us if you are below the standard ordering time. We keep 170-200 dresses in stock at any one time, so there are always plenty of styles to chose from.

We advise you bring a maximum of three people on your first appointment. Too many opinions can often confuse a bride. If you find your dream dress you are welcome to show your bridesmaids and other guests on another appointment.

We don’t have communal changing areas and each bride has their own fitting room and seating area.  This is set up for three seats per area so for your comfort this would be the preferred amount of guests.

Some of our Designers offer a ‘sample service’ whereby you can pay a small fee to cover the insurance and postage to have a particular style sent to us if we do not already stock it. Not all dresses are available and a lead time of 2-3 weeks to book a dress is standard. Please telephone the shop for details.

A 50% deposit is required to order a new dress, the rest of the balance is payable on it’s arrival. If you don’t have the full 50% you can set up an interest-free payment plan from £100 a month.

We only offer private changing rooms, we do not feel communal changing areas are appropriate for bridal-wear. Each of our changing rooms have private seating areas for three guests and you’ll be offered a drink (cold soft drinks or a glass of wine). The changing rooms have two-way mirrors so you can see the back and front of a dress at the same time.

You can pay the deposit on a dress but delay the measuring if you feel you are going to change shape. We can work with you to measure you for the dress closer to your wedding date. Once you put your deposit down it guarantees the dress at the ticket price. If the price of the dress increases between the time you’ve paid your deposit and the time you come to be measured, we will not charge you the extra ticket price.

Once a dress is on order with a Designer you cannot transfer, change your mind or receive a refund under any circumstance. The balance of the dress must be paid for in full upon arrival (Sale of Goods Act 1979).

We stock sample dresses in sizes 8-26, with 60% of our stock in size 8-16 and 40% in size 18-26.

We are famed for our large Maggie Sottero Collection as we’ve been stocking them for over 20 years and have a full and varied collection. We’re also well-known for our great selection of gowns by Allure bridals, Boho dresses by Wilderly Bride & Tea Length wedding dresses by designer Brighton Belle.

Sale items cannot be ‘reserved’. If you wish to purchase a Sale wedding dress it must be paid for in full and a refund cannot be given for a change of mind.

We have a small in-house alteration service and a team of dedicated bridal dressmaker’s who work with us based in Newmarket, Bury St Edmunds and Cambridge.  Everyone of our brides is assigned a bridal dressmaker to obtain the perfect fit to their dress.  Alterations are an additional cost to the dress. Our dressmakers are creative and can help create bespoke changes to a dress such as making a jacket & adding straps. Ideally we ask for two months prior to the wedding date to start your alterations.

External Brides:

We can also offer or recommend our bridal seamstress to alter your dress, even if bought on-line, from a vintage shop or another bridal boutique.  The consultation fee is £35, refundable against the cost of your alterations. We do not resell dresses but do offer a cleaning from £175 if you wish us to restore your dress for you ready to sell privately.

We have a free customer car park at the rear of our shop.  On Wednesdays and Saturdays (our busiest days) we kindly ask each bride to limit cars to one per bridal party.
