Tell us the story of how you met and got together?

We met through work in lockdown 2, where only a small handful of people were in the building, we both worked in - an informal coffee club formed to keep morale up in the strange working world where so much was online. Coffee as a group became dinner ‘as friends’ which became a date… and we never looked back.

The proposal, how did it happen? Was it a Suprise?

It was loosely on the cards but a surprise on the day - we were on a family holiday in Wales - and due to the number of young nieces and nephews it was happy chaos most days in the cottage we were all sharing. Will and I went for a run along the coastal path half way through the week, and Will chose the half way point of the run to pop the question!

He’d asked my niece if he could borrow her ring (a lime green plastic gem she’d bought with her pocket money the day before) as he needed to ask aunty Katie a question. She kindly agreed and kept it a secret too!

The venue, How did you decided and why did you choose Lanwades?

We wanted a winter wedding and loved the warmth of Lanwades in winter, and the variety of rooms offering different spaces for guests depending on the time of day.
Was your dress what you pictured it to be like?
Yes, and more - It was by far the most beautiful dress I have ever worn - which is how it probably should be if possible!

How was your experience finding your dream dress at Brides by Solo?

Can’t speak highly enough of Sadie and the team - professional, warm, extremely adept at helpfully advising style for body type and a delight to communicate with through several swift fittings in a short engagement.

How did you find the planning process & finding suppliers?

A bit of a whirlwind due to the short engagement but happily Lanwades had several key suppliers to choose from for food and our selected supplier, Portfolio Events, were excellent throughout, and Cambridge Wine Merchants equally were thoroughly helpful. Social media was useful in finding our wonderful photographer and generous hair and make-up pro, who both navigated online meetings to make sure the prep was in place for the day really smoothly.

Did you have any entertainment throughout the day & evening? Yes - the Popcorns - a superb jazz trio local to Cambridge.

What were your favourite memories from the day?

Too many to list all of them - but our first dance was one of them - before being engaged I was pretty sure I would never want to do one as I was terrified of tripping over my dress whilst being the centre of attention. Somehow with Will though it felt absolutely fun, and we managed to convince the crowd we’d practised in advance… although we hadn’t. We winged it on the day, it was a delight to do in my dress as it pinned up so cleverly and still had a fab ‘swoosh’, and no one fell on their face.

What would your advice be for other brides planning their special day?

Don’t try and be responsible for other people's assumptions about your day; it’s impossible to please everyone and your wedding day should be first and foremost yours and your fiancées day.

And try and divide up the jobs list between you - a weekly wedding hour is quite a good way of keeping tabs on the to-do without making the whole week, or your whole relationship about one (wonderful, but one) day - of the rest of your lives together!
